Capeable is a backpack attachment featuring dual compartments to offer children a sense of comfort and creative expression in turbulent homes impacted by addiction.

During my placement in New York I designed Capeable - a golden cape that unfurls into a capacious fabric fort, utilising carabiners to clip onto household elements. Complementing this, a storybook discusses aiding the unconscious and building up self-esteem, reinforcing the fort as a sanctuary of strength and safety. The second compartment is zipped keeping possessions safe, providing comfort and alleviating anxiety. This accessory not only sparks creativity through construction and play, but also enhances dexterity and problem-solving skills, vital for children navigating turbulent home environments, including those affected by parental addiction.
