Blight Alert is a concept for recycling MEMs sensors from smartphones and integrating them into a handheld device specifically designed for small-scale farmers. MEMs’ ability to access barometric pressure data to estimate humidity is a critical factor in predicting rice blast disease. Based on the readings, farmers can determine when humidity levels indicate an increased risk of rice blast disease, allowing them to implement preventive measures promptly. Humidity levels in agriculture serve other purposes, including optimising irrigation practices, monitoring plant stress, and determining ideal crop harvesting time. BlightAlert optimises these agricultural tasks and provides educational insights.
